WHO WE ARE
Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled is a local non-profit organisation established in 1993, committed to serve People with Disabilities regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. We are focused on providing various services to meet the different needs of the local disabled community.
Today, we have eight centres serving differently disabled communities throughout West Malaysia. The following centres are found in Kepong, Puchong, Klang, Seremban, Kampar, Manjung, Melaka, and Petaling Jaya which also serves as our Headquarters.
We are an organisation registered in Malaysia with tax exempt status.
HISTORY
In 1993, the Chinese Annual Conference (CAC) the Methodist Church in Malaysia sought to reach out to the disabled community and began to promote social services to care for the people with physical disabilities. What started as a small movement to assist Person with Disabilities (PWDs) with their basic needs has transformed into a mission to enhance the quality of life of PWDs and to assist in their total integration into mainstream society.
The first Beautiful Gate centre was established in Petaling Jaya in 1995 to provide accommodation, independent living training and various services for the disabled in need regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. Subsequently, 7 Beautiful Gate centres were set up in Kepong (1996), Kampar (1999), Seremban (2001), Melaka (2006), Klang (2006), Manjung (2009) and Puchong (2013) to reach out to provide services to meet the different needs of the PWDs in the locality.
In 2003, after ten years of hard work since 1993, Beautiful Gate Centre became fully recognised by the government and officially registered as the Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled.
Today, we have assisted more than 2,000 PWDs and their family members through the centre’s programs and services: General Education, Training & Development, Employment for OKU, Welfare & Care, Advocacy & Awareness, Performing Arts Troupe, Rehabilitation, Recycling & Workshop, Holistic & Independent Living Program(ILP), Recreation & Sports and more.
